CPSTabFlow is a system for an efficient way to publish Excel-based data (german version)
With CPSTabFlow its possible to produce annual reports, quarter reports, complex pricelists, technical sheets and so on: CPSTabFlow is a very flexible system to visualize Excel-based data in InDesign. It is possible to update the published tables in InDesign directly even when the tables are located in different InDesign documents. CPSTabFlow knows which InDesign documents are affected from the given Excel file. If there are publications in more than one language, CPSTabFlow reduces the administration remarkable. With one Excel file all data will be distributed in all relevant InDesign files. The formatting definition in InDesign is a two level definition. The first level contains the graphical appearance, like font, font size, color, right-aligned and so on. The second level contains the formatting definition of the number or the date (123.00 or 123 or 123 USD; 10 january 2010 or 10.01.2010 or 01/10/10...). All this definitions are followed during the automatic update. Linking InDesign and Excel CPSTabFlow contains a complete webbased workflow and an extension of the standard application of Adobe InDesign CS3 / CS4. The solution can be used as a pre-located workflow to a publication system like Woodwing. With Woodwing it is possible to use a bridge to check out and check in the documents and/or articles automatically. No programming! To use the system and to produce a table no programming is necessary. The usage of the system is really simple. The designer can use his knowledge to produce the tables. For the creation of the tables it is also possible to use InDesign libraries. Due to the fact we replaced and enhanced the link mechanism between Excel and InDesign, the designer has only to learn how to connect the Excel file with the InDesign table. Automatic comparison of the tables When updating an Excel file CPSTabFlow allow you to visualize the difference between the new and the old vffersion of Excel files. Each changed cells are highlighted. If there is a difference in the structure, so the deleted columns/rows are highlighted red and the new inserted columns/rows are highlighted blue. So with one view it's possible to receive a clear view over the actual situation. This is a great help in a time-critical situation. CPSTabFlow is a collaboration instrument The target of CPSTabFlow is to receive a consistent, manageable workflow. CPSTabFlow is a production system and a collaboration instrument. It simplifies the working process in a relevant way. The patency of the workflow connects all involved persons. Each involved member of the workflow has the required overview. The web portal connects agency and client. Agency and clients benefits both from CPSTabFlow. With the web portal the client is able to check in the Excel files. The tables in these Excel files can be assigned to the different articles, so the designer can start his work. Once assigned, the client can update the tables automatically. Each upload with automatic update or manual update made in CPSTabFlow is logged, so it is possible to reconstruct each step, for each Excel file. And of course each uploaded version of an excel file will be stored and can be compared with each other version.
